Effekt Publishing
British publisher of Tales of the Old West
Effekt Publishing is a British role-playing game publisher that grew out of the Effekt podcast, which mainly covers games built on the Year Zero Engine. The publisher’s western role-playing game Tales of the Old West is set in the American West in the 1870s and uses the same rules engine. The game was written by Matthew Tyler-Jones and Dave Semark, who have both previously worked on Free League games, and it won the Judges’ Choice award for best role-playing game at UK Games Expo 2026. The quickstart rules, Tales of the Old West QuickDraw, can be downloaded free as a PDF.
